No 9 Motor Machine Gun Battery

A Motor Machine Gun Battery was provided to some Divisions to provide additional mobile machine gun assets.

No. 9 Battery, Motor Machine Guns, went to France with 12th (Eastern) Division and disembarked at Le Havre on 30 May, 1915.

As a unit of the 12th (Eastern) Division, it will have taken part in the following battles and engagements.

1915
01 to 08 October Battle of Loos [XI Corps, First Army].
13 to 19 October The Quarries (Hulloch) [XI Corps, First Army].
1916
02 to 18 March Hohenzollern Craters [I Corps, First Army].

The unit left 12th (Eastern) Division on 20 June, 1916, and joined II ANZAC Corps at Blaringhem.
