The VMGCRA has provided displays of the Vickers MG in a historical context independently and as part of a wider group of individuals or associations. This page shows some of the photos and explains some of the context of the displays. Few of the photos are the property of the VMGCRA and where they are sourced from elsewhere, the link is shown below the photo to the original source and where, often, you can find more of the photos of the show. If a link is not shown, it means the original source cannot be located – if this is your photo, please contact using the link on the contents page.
British Airborne Platoon Training Weekend, Ashdown Camp, Evesham, UK (March, 2013)
After the success of the Victory Show in 2011 and 2012, it was agreed that we would attend the Training Weekend as part of the British Airborne Platoon. The purpose was to share knowledge on the Vickers Machine Gun to those that attended in 2012, so that more people were aware of the drills, Immediate Actionss and mechanism of the Vickers. This condensed the majority of Pamphlet No. 7, Parts I and II, of the Small Arms Training Manuals into a single weekend, so could only briefly cover the subjects.
The Saturday was spent in the classroom, covering mechanical subjects, including explaining the mechanism, the naming of parts, stripping the component parts, including the lock, and the causes and remedies of the various stoppages.
