08. Barr and Stroud Rangefinder

Serving alongside the Vickers throughout its entire service, the Barr & Stroud Rangefinder was an essential piece of equipment that enabled machine gunnery to be applied accurately and consistently.

The Range-Taker was a machine gunner who received further training on the instrument. It used prisms to triangulate on an object for the range to be read.
