It’s Demo Time! Saturday 18 July 2026

We are hosting another of our demonstration days in the Midlands on Saturday 18 July 2026. We will be showcasing a series of firing firearms from the collection in a way you just can’t experience anywhere else.

Our event in 2025 was a huge success with a variety of firearms from a Second World War theme and this time the theme will be the ‘sidearms of the Emma Gees’ so tracking the firearms that machine gunners carried when serving with the Vickers machine gun, as well as the Vickers of course! And a few guest pieces, including those that we perhaps missed last time.

It will be similar to the demonstrations we have conducted for schools, like that shown here: https://youtu.be/Z1Ln4L0GS-8

Please note that it is a demonstration only and guests will not be able to fire.

Members of the Vickers MG Supporter Corps (through Patreon and JustGiving) can purchase tickets for £50 (inc VAT) each, with a single additional ticket at £80 (inc VAT) for a non-member. Any tickets remaining will be offered for £80 (inc VAT) per person. Due to the VAT element, we only receive 83.3% of the ticket price to cover the range hire fees and ammunition.

To purchase tickets, you will need to go through our shop. Members of the Vickers MG Supporter Corps have a discount code to get the £30 off their ticket price.

Some more detailed information: The site will be in Worcester. The timings will be approximately 1000 arrival at the range, then complete by 1200 with an opportunity to come back to Swindon for 1400 for a few hours to look around the collection in detail.

Specific addresses will be released by email to ticket purchasers within the fortnight before the event.

Tickets for Patrons are £50 each (including VAT) and any guests (or non-members if any remain) are £80 each (inc VAT). Please note that because this is a ticketed event, we have to charge VAT and this reduces our income, and funds for ammunition, considerably.

Use the discount code in this post to get £30 off your Patron ticket for members.

Training our Emma Gees

For the 2022 shoot to commemorate the centenary of the disbandment of the Machine Gun Corps, it was necessary to train nearly sixty people to safely handle and use the Vickers machine gun. This was a key part of the planning for the event and it became a piece of work that has continued beyond the event and an ongoing legacy of the commemorations.

Indirect Fire: A Primer

First shared on twitter.

Indirect fire with the #VickersMG (principles apply elsewhere though): First need to understand that in #VickersMG parlance: DIRECT fire is targets that can be seen from the gun position; INDIRECT fire is for targets that are obscured. Direct fire photos using tangent sight:
