Horsa Glider – Carriage of Personnel by Air

Description

A 1948 Air Publication, this document covers how troops were transported in the Horsa glider, which had been developed during the Second World War. It has been updated in the following years (1950 for example) but appears to be the same principles and much of the detail of how the Horsa would have been used in wartime as well. It was the Horsa glider that transported the Airlanding Brigade and the supporting troops of the Airborne Division on Operation OVERLORD (Normandy), MARKET GARDEN (Arnhem etc), and VARSITY (crossing the Rhine).

From AIR 10/5140 at the National Archives.
